Deep Sea Mining Has Hit Battery Grade Nickel

The Metals Company (NASDAQ:TMC) has announced that nickel that was mined from the floor of the Pacific Ocean has been verified as battery grade by Geneva based inspection and certification company SGS. The reserves of metals such as nickel and cobalt on the ocean floor are enormous, with an estimated value of between $8 and $16 trillion dollars, but the practice of deep sea mining remains controversial with policy makers.

The United States Military Wants To Fund Lab Grown Meat

The United States Department of Defense has announced they are requesting official proposals for sustainable food production methods for the military, including cultivated proteins and lab grown meat. The program will look to provide grant funding to universities, non-profits and small startups who are capable of validating that they can produce one specific type of cultivated protein or lab grown meat in a manner that is environmentally sustainable.
